On April 13, a three-judge panel at the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that mifepristone, one of the drugs used in chemical abortions, will remain available while litigation regarding its initial approval by the FDA continues. However, the court reinstated important safety precautions that had been stripped away. This means chemical abortion drugs:

  • Can no longer be ordered through the mail
  • can’t be prescribed via telemedicine
  • are limited to the first 7 weeks of pregnancy
