The Williams Family

blog

We rarely get to see the ripple effect of being obedient to God’s calling. Here is the story of one family and how God used their Lenten experience to model an important lesson for their children – and to bless the women and families served at Wellspring Life Ministry.

Meet the Williams Family.

The Williams* are a close-knit military family with five young kids. They first learned about Wellspring Life Ministry (formerly Pregnancy Clinic Ministry) through their church and were eager to get connected.

“We feel dismayed at how our culture doesn’t see children as a gift,” Julie* shared. “We believe that every life is a gift from God, because He is the source and creator of all life. Therefore, every life is valuable and should be protected.”

In early 2021, they found a unique way to get their kids involved, too.

“We were talking about Lenten practices with our children. It was hard for them to understand how giving up something could make any kind of spiritual difference.” They were seeking a way to change their kids’ mindsets – to go from thinking of sacrifice for its own sake towards sacrifice being a blessing

As a family, they decided to give up Goldfish Crackers (the children’s favorite!) for the 6 weeks of Lent – and use the money saved to bless others through a local ministry.“

“Our kids LOVE babies,” said Julie – so they chose to partner with Wellspring Life Ministry in order to help moms and babies.

According to Julie, their Lenten giving has led to great conversations about the value of life, the real meaning of sacrifice, and how it is easier to go without when you know you are blessing someone else. They also learned that they can live without the Goldfish!

“[Wellspring Life Ministry] truly impacts the community around us,” Julie told us. “We are glad to teach our kids about the value of life and that the family is God’s idea and worth supporting and preserving.”

With their sacrificial giving, the Williams children showed care and love for women facing unplanned pregnancies – including April (quoted above), who came to one of our Pregnancy Clinics earlier this year. April was devastated to learn of her pregnancy and was considering abortion as her best option.

Instead, she found a family who loved her, and encouragement.

With your financial partnership, you become the hands and feet of our Jesus, inviting women into a community with Him.

Your gifts are LIFE-transforming
